Tri-County Regional Planning Commission

The Urbanized Area Boundary is determined by the US Census Bureau every 10 years in conjunction with the Decennial Census. It defines an area of 50,000 or more population that is considered currently urban in character. This boundary does not necessarily follow corporate limits.

The 20 Year Planning Boundary also known as the Metropolitan Area (MA) must cover at least the existing urbanized area and the contiguous area expected to become urbanized during the Long Range Transportation Plan 20 year forecast period. This boundary is used to determine what projects are to be included in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

For the FY 2005-2030 LRTP, the following cities are within the 20 Year Planning Boundary:

Peoria County             Tazewell County             Woodford County
Bartonville                       East Peoria                       Bayview Gardens
Bellevue                          Creve Coeur                     Germantown Hills

Any use of federal funds for transportation purposes within the planning boundary must be identified in the LRTP.
