Tri-County Regional Planning Commission has been active in non-motorized transportation planning and implementation for over ten years. TCRPC continues to take a leadership role in non-motorized transportation issues in the Tri-County Region.
Specific bicycle and pedestrian projects and issues TCRPC is involved with include:
- Integrating bicyclist and pedestrian safety and infrastructure with traditional transportation planning
- Non-motorized transportation planning within the urbanized Peoria-Pekin Metro area
- Non-motorized transportation planning outside the urbanized area
- Creation and maintenance of a map detailing existing and proposed multi-use paths, bicycle lanes, and bicycle routes within the region
- Safe Routes to School advocacy at the local and State level
- Assistance to local units of government with grant applications for trail construction projects
